Second Slovenian LEGO Trial Truck meeting, Celje -
January 16th 2010
On Saturday January 16th,
we have, despite the cold, gathered in Celje, Slovenia, where second
informal Trial Truck race took place.
There were five competitors from Kocke Club, each with his own LEGO
terrain vehicle.
Among the contestants were Blaz62, rainworm, Stari89, Whittmann and
Zblj who all brought with them vehicles that had to meet the official "Trial
Truck" rules;
maximum width of vehicle is 25 studs, the vehicle should be four
wheel drive and had to be motorized.
In Celje - Golovec, where the event
took place, the contestants where confronted with perpetuate route,
which consisted of twenty doors. The vihecles are suposed to drive
true gates as fast as possible.
The rules are saying that each touch of the gates or manual assistance
to vehicle adds penalty time of ten seconds.
Originally seted route has proved to be too difficult as competitors
obviously underestimated the power of nature and the winter season.
The competitors agreed to establish a new, steep and easier to drive
track as the hill on which the track was designed was quite steep
and covered with ice and snow, which represented too big gap for
all participating vehicles as they didn't manage to pass over the
first gates.
New, modified route, which was due to these winter conditions more
flat, was easier for the contestents and all the vehicles managed
to drove to the finish more or less successfully. A strong cold pressed
and conditions weren't identical to those found at home beside the
stove.
Fortunately, our sponsor Duracell was there to provide contestents
fresh batteries.
The final winner was determined on the basis of final and penalty
time. The audience were having great time despite the cold.
